Dunes & Duchess

Hello and Happy Spring Everyone!!  I am so excited to share with you this stylish line of Made in America home furnishings by Dunes & Duchess.  Most of the Dunes and Duchess furniture and lighting products are inspired from the past yet everything has a very fresh 21st century design sensibility which I love.

Dunes & Duchess

Double Rachel Sconce in International Lifesaving Orange.

The design duo of Dunes -Michael Partenio and Duchess – Stacy Kunstel found inspiration for their designs from such items as a French antique turned style chandelier they discovered years ago… as you will see, wood turning and spindle style are design motifs emblematic of the Dunes & Duchess products.  Other inspirations… the charming old hitching posts still seen around New England if you look really hard!

Stacy and Micheal are totally involved in the production of their Made in the USA  Dunes and Duchess product line.   Utilizing a time honored form of woodworking called turning, all the individual pieces are turned in the Mid West using North American hardwood (Maple and Oak).

Bright Chair Company – Stylish, quality furniture made in New York

The Bright Chair Company started back in 1927 as an upholstery shop  in New York City.  Current President and owner, Stan Gottlieb’s father purchased it in 1959 and today it remains one of the few  family owned and operated furniture manufacturers in the USA.    Located in an old mill building in Middletown, New York,  the Bright Chair Company manufactures its exclusive furniture designs with the time honored, bench made quality and craftsmanship that has made the company such a success  today.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Stan Gottlieb in The Bright Group showroom at the  Boston Design Center.  In addition to  their stylish Bright furniture, all made in the USA,  they have a wonderful line of carefully curated vendors consisting of lighting,  furniture pieces, sculptural accent tables, mirrors, art and with just a few excepts everything in the showroom is made in the USA!

As an interior designer, I am always on the hunt for style, craftsmanship,  and that je ne sais quoi that will wow my clients.  Well,  I found it all.   Here are some of my top picks for seating and lighting.

Let’s have a seat!

The Elana – Designed by Doug Levine for the Bright Chair Company.

The Elana in a rich velvet mohair.

I love the clean lines and elegant silhouettes of these pieces.

The Gosha arm chair designed by Doug Levine.

Now, this is my kind of wing chair.  The Van wing and ottoman.

The mini Van chair.

The Vanessa slipper chair.

I must have this Elana Bench.

The Sharon Bench.

One of the curated vendors that The Bright Group carries is Evan Lewis who is an award winning sculptor out of Chicago, Illinois.  About ten years ago he started making sculptural furniture for The Bright Group.  Here are just two of my favorite pieces by him.

Love this accent table/art piece and this Tula bench with hand-forged steel and the upholstered seat!

Let there be light!  Charles Loomis Lighting produces a line of glass blown lighting fixtures in Kirkland, Washington.  Their line of eye catching, sculptural pieces can be seen in hotels, retail stores and residential settings.
